The Intermediate Emergency First Aid Responder programme builds on basic first aid skills to equip learners with enhanced emergency care capabilities.

Purpose of the Programme
This programme is designed to:
- Develop intermediate-level first aid knowledge and practical response skills.
- Teach learners to stabilise casualties with more complex injuries or conditions.
- Promote compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation.
- Improve emergency response times and reduce the severity of injuries in the workplace.

Participants will gain competency in:
- Advanced Scene Safety & Assessment – Managing multiple casualties and prioritising care.
- Secondary Survey – Conducting thorough casualty assessments.
- CPR & AED Use – Adult, child, and infant resuscitation techniques.
- Choking & Airway Management – Advanced airway clearing methods.
- Fractures, Sprains & Spinal Injuries – Immobilisation and safe handling.
- Medical Emergencies – Recognising and responding to strokes, seizures, asthma, and diabetic incidents.
- Environmental Emergencies – Treating burns, heat stroke, hypothermia, and poisoning.
- Emergency Communication – Coordinating with emergency services effectively.

- Upon successful completion, learners will receive a Statement of Results and a Skills Programme Certificate under the QCTO.
